TEA HOUSE of Forests Underwater: OMOTESANDO HILLS

“Tea House of Forests Underwater” in OMOTESANDO HILLS, Tokyo Many Nature Aquariums and Aqua Terrariums were presented, and visitors were enjoying the world of aquatic plants.
Aquarium tanks were placed at the height to be viewed by sitting on tatami mat seat, and each tanks placed with a certain space between each other to have a liberating effect on the exhibit.

Experiencing Aquatic Plants World in Japanese taste Space


The event, “NAMACHAKAI- Tea House of Forests Underwater” was held at OMOTESANDO HILLS in Tokyo(July 28 through July 31), with sponsorship of KIRIN, for promoting NAMACHA, green tea beverage.
A total of 13 aquarium layouts incluing three 180 cm tanks were transported from Nature Aquarium Gallery in Niigata, to create the Japanese style space enjoying NAMACHA drinks and Nature Aquarium layouts. The main feature of exhibit is the newly created Super-size Nature Aquatic Plants Wall (180cm tank) with Japanese watery environment as a theme, and many visitors admired the overwhelming exhibit, coming into sight once entered the event space.
Wide range of visitors, young and old, some taking pictures with smart phones, and one staring the aquariums throughout his stay, and some lying on the tatami mat. All the visitors were enjoying “Forest Underwater” in their own styles.

A display of softstem bulrush, having cool impression, was brought from Nature Aquarium Gallery. Many Aqua-terrariums and small tanks were also on display.
The venue was surrounded by the ear-pleasing sound of wind-bell and insects, and it matched well with aquarium layouts mainly composed by mosses and refreshing cool plants. During the event period, people exceeding sponsor’s expectation visited the event to relax and enjoy the cool aquascapes, escaping this year’s extreme summer heat.

 
The installation was composed with a total of 7 driftwoods, and produced with a Japanese cool waterside as a theme. Osmunda, a type of fern, was placed in the center to attract viewer’s attention, and grassy Carex plant to let viewer feel the flow of water. In the aquarium part, cool appearance Vallisneria, or tape grass, were planted, and a wide space was secured for swimming area of the pale chub, or Opsariichthys platypus, which nuptial color looks really sharp with the underwater greens.
