You have probably seen a number of aquatic plants in plastic cups in shops recently. This issue introduces stem plant selections in the Mizukusa no Mori series.

① BIO Rotala rotundifolia green
This is a green Rotala variety. A beautiful dense bush can be produced through trimming.

② BIO Rotala  sp. ‘Bangladesh‘
This is a fine-leaved variety of Rotala. Yellowish leaves are arranged in whorls on a reddish stem.

③ BIO Rotala sp. ‘Hra’
This is a plant with the strongest red color among the Rotala family and gives a colorful impact to a layout. It is a standard red stem plant.

④ BIO Myriophyllum mattogrossens
This is a characteristic Myriophyllum plant with feathery leaves arranged in whorls.

More variety of Mizukusa no Mori have been added over time, and now we are offering about 50 varieties of plants. A great variety of plants are available, such as undergrowth plants, stem plants, Cryptocoryne, and mosses. You may be wondering what types plants are available and how they grow. So, we planted stem plants in the Mizukusa no Mori lineup together and compared their growth after one month. Myriophyllum mattogrossens was the tallest among them after one month. Since its leaves spread out, the plant appears voluminous.
Rotala sp. ‘Hra’ and Rotala sp. ‘Bangladesh’ grew to about the same height. Since the height of the Rotala sp. ‘Bangladesh’ plant tends to vary, it needs to be trimmed to a uniform height. Although Rotala rotundifolia green tends to grow sideways and does not become very tall, it can be shaped into a natural looking thicket through trimming. The form and growing speed of stem plants differ depending on their types. You can create a beautiful aquascape with them by understanding the distinct characteristics of each plant type and maintaining them accordingly.
