Have fun with system Vol. 8 “Enjoying Adaptation”

DOOA’s system aquariums allow us to effortlessly enjoy creating layouts and growing plants. Shibata, one of the best maintenance technicians in the NAC department, introduces the daily maintenance and practice. I’m doing maintenance today too!, says Shibata.
Plants adapting to their environment by developing new buds
To ensure that the planted terrestrial plants develop buds adapted to the environment of the System Paluda 30, I set up a routine of repeating the Mistflow “run for 3 hours and stop for 30 minutes” for one week from the day of production, and carefully observe the conditions in the aquarium during the 30 minutes it is stopped. During this period, the Circulation Fan 40 was not operated and priority was given to keeping the humidity in the aquarium at a high level to allow acclimatization. When the plants began to take new roots in the substrate and new buds started to develop, we changed the Mistflow routine from “run for 2 hours and stop for 1 hour” to gradually acclimate the plants to the low humidity. During the period when the Mistflow is running for a long time, the substrate is drained and water is added to the box frequently.
DATA (4 weeks after production)

Circulation Fan 40: Always off
Water supply to Mistflow box: 2l every 3 days

Point 01 Humidity maintenance for acclimatization
Mistflow operating time is controlled by Power Cord S-70. Initially, high humidity is maintained to acclimate plants to the environment.

Point 02 Rooting is determined with the development of new buds.
If you see new buds developing, it is a sign that rooting is progressing. Once the roots are established, stable growth can be expected in the future.

Point 03 Compare changes of foliage that is appropriate for the environment.
The photographic comparison of the changes in the foliage immediately after planting and now shows that acclimatization has progressed and the foliage has been replaced.
