Expression of black water flowing through jungles with Mizukusa Wall 60.

For this time, I tried to express the beauty of black water flowing through jungles by using Mizukusa Wall 60 which was recently renewed from Wabi-Kusa Wall 60. Mizukusa Wall 60 is made of black acrylic. Therefore gaps of wabi-Kusa Mat are unnoticeable, and the look of whole wall becomes tighter.
Here, I used an assortment of land plants in bright colors against the dark wall for the sharper impression. Leaving some of the plants outside the aquarium tank creates a sense of openness. I used ferns to create shades and a feel of natural atmosphere because many kinds of ferns generally flourish in light. I planted only Nymphaea rubra which expands from South American moss and blubs in the water because underwater tends to get too dark.
The black water, originated from horn woods provides the image of tropical atmosphere.

Reproduction of tropical forest waterside by combining jungle plants and epiphytic aqua plants.

DOOA wall system used aquatic plant leaves in the beginning because they generally grow in the water. However, in the natural environment, there are some hygrophytes that prefer a moist environment. Some land plants adopt well in humid environment such as tropical forest, or foggy forest. It is possible for such jungle plants and epiphytic aqua plants to coexist on the wall without difficulty.
In this layout, I reproduced tropical forest waterside by combining jungle plants and epiphytic aqua plants.

Plant jungle plants that prefer a bright environment on top of the wall. Large leaves will cut off strong lights, and shade plants likely to flourish underneath the leaves.

The shaded areas under drift woods and large jungle plants are suitable for growing epiphytic orchids because it is unlikely to get dry.

In the hollow of the driftwood by the water surface, I stuffed aquatic moss to recreate the wet land environment. I also planted an aquatic plant, Lagelandora and a hydrophyte, Pinguicula vulgaris.

Aquarium water became black water after mixing with the component from the horn wood. The environment is perfect for breeding Grammy or Rasbora.
